Real Couples // A Community-Created Wedding: Blanca + Cody
/Blanca and Cody met in Seattle in the summer of 2007. Cody was 21, and Blanca was 24. They dated for nine years before tying the knot. They're a couple that's always on the go! Cody is an amazing cook at a local hot spot in Ballard, and Blanca is a talented photo stylist for Zulily.com. Together the couple also runs an Airbnb and are superhosts! Their home has also been featured on Apartment Therapy.
Blanca: We didn't have a traditional engagement. We came to a decision to get married together while in traffic. Then we planned a 2-day wedding in only three months! We planned and executed it ourselves with the help of friends.
Cody and I are a creative duo that love huge projects! We've thrown together lots of weddings and creative events for friends. Our resourcefulness and willingness to jump right in has made us the couple that everyone can depend on. But this time, for our wedding, we were able to cash in IOUs and trades from friends! SO many parts of our wedding were gifted or traded to us, including our photography, our wedding cake, and even all of the champagne! It was a great example of community coming together to pull off one of the most fun weddings ever! Even our wedding ceremony reflected our strong community and inclusiveness. We had six of our closest friends and family members participate in our nontraditional ceremony, perfectly representing who we are individually and together.

Meet Jenny GG Photography: Hi, I’m Jenny. I’ve been photographing weddings around Seattle since 2008. My family is my favorite, and the best day includes the dog, the kid, the wife, strong coffee, banana ice cream and a ‘pants off dance off’ contest in the living room. Weddings are groovy, and I love people. Call me.
